A Critique on the Title and Headings of the Course "Geotourism with an Emphasis on Iran”

Abstract

The compulsory subject under the title "Geotourism with an Emphasis on Iran" is defined in the geography education curriculum of Teacher Training University, for which the existential philosophy and the presented headings are worthy of consideration. But the professors of this field have been unable to develop and present it and student teachers have also failed to understand its content deeply. To investigate this issue, a qualitative research method was used in the form of a comparative comparison, and the titles and headings presented for this course with the sources mentioned for it in the undergraduate curriculum of geography education of Teacher Training University and, undergraduate curricula of geology and geography fields of other universities have been compared. The obtained results confirmed the existence of mentioned contradiction. It is suggested that instead of this subject, should be replaced with "Tourism geography with an emphasis on the implementation of student tours", which is in line with the goals and structure of the geography education curriculum at Teacher Training University.
